Not far from Stuttgart lies the former royal residence of Ludwigsburg Palace, known as the “Swabian Versailles”. Germany’s largest preserved Baroque palace complex conveys a vivid impression of the one-time splendour of court life, which also attracted Casanova to the Stuttgart region.
Epicures, too, will find much to delight. Local wines and both Swabian and international specialities can be sampled in traditional wine taverns or in one of the eight starred restaurants.
And visitors also enjoy the various festivals held throughout the year, such as the Stuttgart Beer Festival or the picturesque Christmas markets.
