Bratislava CARD

March 27, 2014 | By Eva Mazuchova,

Enjoy even more with Bratislava CARD (BC)

Unique history and attractions, excellent local gastronomy and modern shopping centres make Bratislava an ideal city-break destination. The striking landmark and symbol of the city is the Bratislava Castle, strategically built on a hill overlooking the River Danube. Another must see is the gothic St. Martin’s Cathedral where 18 Habsburgs – 11 kings and 7 royal wives – were crowned between the years 1563 – 1830. Keen to learn more about the city history? Then you cannot miss the oldest museum in the city – Bratislava City Museum housed at the Old Town Hall with a spectacular view over the city from its tower. The largest preserved collection of English tapestries in the world is the pride and jewel of Bratislava. The tapestries were woven in the 17th century in Mortlake near London by Flemish weavers and are now installed in the Primate’s Palace, the ultimate example of classicism in Europe. And after sightseeing enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of this ever-changing city in one of the numerous cosy restaurants and cafés, explore a wide range of shops or experience a rich cultural life in the city or go out to the region to discover its history, handicrafts, wine growing tradition and local gastronomy.
